Going to Las Vegas as a Family

Las Vegas is often regarded as the entertainment capital of the world, known for its vibrant nightlife, casinos, and adult-oriented entertainment. However, what many people may not realize is that Las Vegas also offers a plethora of family-friendly activities and attractions that are perfect for those traveling with little ones. From captivating shows and interactive museums to outdoor adventures and thrilling rides, Las Vegas has something for everyone, including families with young children. We recently spent a week in Las Vegas with my entire family (32 of us - 14 adults and 18 kids) it was a Blast! In this blog post, we will explore some of the things to do in Las Vegas with little kids, ensuring a memorable and enjoyable family vacation.

Inexpensive Activities in Las Vegas for Families

Swimming

Things in Las Vegas can rack up in price quickly, especially with littles. We love finding a fun activity that is still within the budget. SWIMMING! We did a lot of swimming, which was nice because in Vegas it's hot so it cools everyone down. It's right in the walls of your hotel and everyone loves it! My husband always tells me in another life I must have been a fish! I love to swim and our kids enjoy it too.

$1 Bowling at Southpoint Casino

Bowling! So if you go to Southpoint casino at the south end of the strip between 7-9 am their bowling is only a dollar a game (you do still have to pay for shoe rentals.) Southpoint has a 62-lane bowling alley and it is awesome!! Very clean, bright, and fun. The kiddos loved picking their ball and bowling with their cousins. We did 2 games and the kids enjoyed every minute.

Funny story the lanes there are taken care of very well. There are professional bowlers that come and practice there so needless to say the lanes are better cared for than the small bowling alley in our small town. I went bowling my very first bowl and the floor was more grippy than I expected.... until I stepped over the penalty line to catch my balance and slide like a little puppy on ice down the lane! (THOSE lanes are slick) During our 2 games there were at least 10 kiddos and 5 adults, just within our group, that slipped into the lane. 😅 This was a great activity for the whole family. Cheap, entertaining, and memorable.

M&M World

M&M World is such a fun and very kid-friendly place it is right downtown on the strip so we were a little nervous to take the kiddos, but it turned out ok. We parked for free at the Tropicana and took a morning walk to M&M World. We figured in the morning was a pretty safe and less busy time to walk down the strip with 18 kids. The store is very colorful and full of fun souvenirs, most of which are $$$$ pricey, but they do have some sections that are $10 and under. Our kids loved this store. There are 4 floors of everything M&M you can think of. They used to have a cute little M&M movie that you could watch for free, but that has been put on hold due to Covid, hopefully it starts up again soon. The Wall of M&Ms....Every color that you can imagine is epic. This was a very fun outing that everyone enjoyed.

The Venetian

The Venetian is a very clean fun atmosphere, especially with the inside canale and the gondola rides. It is beautiful. The Venetian has free parking, which is a plus since free parking is harder to find at the casinos. We walked through Venetian enjoying the cool outdoor ceiling and gondola rides the singing of the gondoliers. Our kids thought it was a very cool outing. We then walked outside around the front to see the outside gondola rides before hitting up the people movers that go up and over the bridge.... we may have ridden them back and forth a few times. 🤣 Our kiddos LOVED the moving walkways and any escalator they could find. All in all the Venetian was a hit.

The Bellagio

The Bellagio is a must-see. I really love it at night, but with kids, I would recommend seeing it during the day. The Bellagio lets your park for the first hour free, after that the price is $15/hr for weekdays and $20/hr for weekends. We parked and set our timer. They have a gorgeous botanical garden right on the casino floor that is so fun to see. Every season they change the 14,000-square-foot garden. It is amazing.

The Bellagio also has the largest chocolate fountain in the world just around the corner from the garden. It has a stream of white chocolate, dark and milk. It is a fun thing to see, and imagine sticking a pretzel or strawberry in it.

Then of course the famous water show. During the day it goes every hour on weekdays and every 30 min on weekends. At night it's every 15 min. It is AMAZING! I love watching the Bellagio water show. The music is always great and the sound of the water crashing adds to it. It's cooler at night due to the lights that are added, but the daytime shows are still fun and worth the wait.

PINBALL

On the South end of the strip, there is a building that says PINBALL on it. It is full of old pinball machines. When I say full, it is wall-to-wall games. This was a fun and inexpensive outing as games are only 25 cents to a $1. The workers are a little anxious about kids and get upset if you run, jump, or even celebrate a win. But our kids loved it and enjoyed trying something new.

Las Vegas with the Family

Las Vegas may be synonymous with adult entertainment, but it also offers a wealth of family-friendly activities and attractions that are sure to delight and engage little minds. This was a great trip, we enjoyed getting to play with our kids and seeing a new place. There are many different ways of life in Vegas. It was good for our family to see the diversity and it brought up some great discussions about the choices we make!

We hope you and your kids enjoy your next visit to Las Vegas!
