Fast and Yummy!
Sloppy Joes are a classic comfort food, loved for their hearty, savory flavor and, well, their messy nature. Traditionally made with ground beef, the Sloppy Joe has undergone a delightful transformation in recent years with the rise of plant-based eating. With the right ingredients and a bit of creativity, you can enjoy all the goodness of this beloved dish without the meat. Today, I'm excited to share with you a mouthwatering plant-based Sloppy Joe recipe that's sure to become a favorite in your household. And its so fast, its great for one of those nights that dinner creeps up on you and you need something done fast.
Ingredients:
1 (15oz) can of Manwich -original Sloppy Joe Sauce
2 Tbsp Brown sugar - or maple syrup
1 cup gardein plant-based beef crumble.
1 cup - cooked and broiled quinoa
Hamburger buns, for serving
Instructions:
Start by boiling your quinoa,
pour your manwich (or if you prefer your home made sauce then make that) heat in pan with your brown sugar and gardein ground be'f and heat through
Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce has thickened and the flavors have melded together.
Strain your quinoa and spread out on a cookie sheet (with parchment or a silpat) Broil on high tell golden brown
Add crunchy quinoa to your sloppy joe mix
Once the Sloppy Joe mixture is ready, toast your hamburger buns and add a generous portion of the mixture onto each bun.
Serve your plant-based Sloppy Joes with your favorite sides, such as coleslaw, potato wedges, or a crisp green salad.
