Fresh loaf of pear bread

As the leaves begin to change and the air turns crisp, there's nothing quite like the aroma of freshly baked pear bread wafting through your kitchen. Pear bread is a delightful treat that captures the essence of autumn in every bite. I had never hear of pear bread tell this morning, when I found my counter of pears had decided to be ripe, and it was cold and rainy outside. I looked up recipes with pears in it, and came across pear bread. I put my own plant-based twist on it and it turned out delisious. So naturally I decided to share it!

The History of Pear Bread

Pear bread is a classic recipe that has been cherished for generations. Pears, with their natural sweetness and juicy texture, have been a staple in many cuisines for centuries. When incorporated into bread, they add a unique and delicate flavor that sets pear bread apart from other fruit breads.

Pears are typically in season during the fall, making this bread a popular choice for autumn gatherings and celebrations. Its origins are believed to be rooted in American kitchens, where resourceful bakers would incorporate seasonal fruits into their bread recipes. Over time, variations of pear bread have emerged, each with its own twist on this timeless classic.

The Perfect Pear Bread Recipe

Now, let's dive into making a delicious pear bread that will fill your home with warmth and comfort.

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 1/2 cups golden wheat flour

1/4 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon baking soda

1teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1 1/2 cup coconut oil

1 cup granulated sugar

1 cup brown sugar

3/4 cup applesauce

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

3 cups pears, peeled, cored, and chopped (about 2-3 pears)

1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Instructions:

Preheat your oven to 325°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x5-inch loaf pan.

In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Set aside.

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

Beat in the applesauce slowly, followed by the vanilla extract.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.

Gently fold in the chopped pears and nuts (if using, I totally spaced putting the nuts in. But thats ok because there will definetaly be more of this bread making soon!)

Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread it evenly, I sliced some pears for decoration on top.

Ready to bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour and 15 min minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Allow the pear bread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Slice and enjoy your homemade pear bread, and savor the flavors of fall.

MMM the smell!!!

Pear bread is a delightful way to celebrate the season's bounty and create cherished memories with loved ones.
