Today in my blog I want to talk about how easy and yummy a home lunch can be, for you, your spouse and your kiddos. We will also go over the many benefits of packing your own lunch and how it can positively impact your health, finances, and overall well-being.

1. Healthier Choices:

When you pack your own lunch, you have full control over the ingredients you use. This means you can prioritize fresh, whole foods and avoid the excess salt, sugar, and preservatives often found in restaurant meals and pre-packaged convenience foods. By incorporating a variety of fruits, vegetables, proteins, and whole grains into your homemade lunches, you can ensure that you're nourishing your body with the nutrients it needs to thrive. 2. Cost-Effectiveness:

Eating out regularly can quickly add up and take a toll on your wallet. By preparing your own meals at home, you can significantly reduce your food expenses over time. Buying ingredients in bulk and preparing multiple servings at once can further maximize your savings. Additionally, packing your own lunch allows you to avoid impulse purchases and stick to your budget more effectively. As a mom who loves cooking meals for my family, I don’t like seeing the leftovers go to waste. And I can meal prep by simply making just a little extra at meal time so I easily have enough for lunches the next day. This also makes it nice because you can pack your lunch for the next day right after dinner, saving you the stress of having to do it in the morning.

Eating out every day, adds up!!!

3. Customization:

One of the greatest benefits of packing your own lunch is the ability to tailor your meals to your personal preferences and dietary restrictions. Whether you're following a specific diet, trying to eat more plant-based foods, or simply have certain food allergies or intolerances, preparing your own meals allows you to accommodate your unique needs without compromise. From choosing your favorite ingredients to experimenting with new recipes, the possibilities are endless when it comes to homemade lunches.

Our little kids enjoy their home lunches, they don’t have to wait in line at school for a meal they are not sure if they are going to like, I let them decide what sounds good to them in the morning before school, we even got little thermos’s for them so they are able to take hot lunches when they want. (They love rice with butter and salt and pepper, leftover soups, mash potatoes and gravy, chili, you name it.) It Awesome! And they always have plenty of food, so they wont be hungry at school!

4. Portion Control:

When you dine out, it's often challenging to gauge portion sizes, leading to overeating and potential weight gain. By packing your own lunch, you can portion out your meals according to your individual calorie needs and nutritional goals. This can help you maintain a healthier weight and avoid the temptation of oversized restaurant portions.

Home packed lunches have better portion control.

5. Environmental Impact:

Choosing to pack your own lunch can also have positive environmental benefits. By reducing the demand for single-use plastic containers, utensils, and packaging associated with takeout meals, you can minimize your ecological footprint and contribute to a more sustainable future. Investing in reusable containers and utensils is not only better for the planet but also saves you money in the long run.

In conclusion, the benefits of packing your own lunch extend far beyond mere convenience. From promoting better health and saving money to empowering you to make more sustainable choices, homemade lunches offer a multitude of advantages that can enhance your overall quality of life. So, the next time you're tempted to grab a meal on the go, consider the rewarding experience of preparing your own delicious and nutritious lunch at home. Your body, your wallet, and the planet will thank you for it. Let us know what your favorite home packed lunch is!!!
